(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, June 06, 2016 ) Los Angeles, California -- To continue May's National Arthritis Awareness Month, health and vitality company Zen Strength today highlighted The Arthritis Foundation's Can you #SeeArthritis campaign. The campaign is designed to increase people's overall awareness of arthritis and highlight the fact that it can affect anyone at any age, including babies and young children.
The campaign asks people to check out a gallery on the Foundation's website to see if you can identify who is battling with arthritis. The gallery includes many inspiring stories of people older and younger whose lives are affected by arthritis but who are ‘everyday warriors' in spite of their physical challenges.
Ana Villafañe who experienced life-threatening symptoms aged 7 but is now 26 and is considered a rising star on Broadway and Hulu.
It also features many stories of young children with juvenile arthritis who are in every way like other children but have to develop extraordinary courage to live alongside the condition.
The aim of the campaign is to show that appearances can be deceiving. Whilst arthritis is commonly associated with ageing, around 300,000 children have juvenile arthritis. It also highlights that arthritis can be a debilitating disease, affecting skin, eyes, heart and lungs as well as joints.
Anyone affected by arthritis, whether themselves or because a friend or relative has it, is invited to post their picture and tell their story.
Ana Villafañe says: "I'm not defined by my condition. Juvenile arthritis doesn't define you. You get to define you.
Speaking to children with Juvenile Arthritis, she said:
"Remember you're not alone. You don't have to be like everyone else in order to be capable."
Ana Villafañe's mother, speaking of how inspiring it's been to be a part of her daughter's journey said:
"It's been an opportunity for us to realise that anything is possible in spite of limitations.
Paula Jenkins CEO of Zen Strength which sells a hand strengthening therapy device said:
"We are committed to raising awareness of arthritis wherever we can. Whilst the majority of people with arthritis have the degenerative type - osteoarthritis - over two million have rheumatoid arthritis which is an autoimmune condition.
"Whatever type of arthritis our customers have, we will work with them if their hands and wrists are affected because exercise and keeping joints and limbs mobile is essential to maintain and improve health."
