With the new office in Nashville last May, comes a new face for one of the largest independent music publishing company. Geddes Bootwright, who become acquainted with the company upon Steve Cropper’s contract signing with Primary Wave. Bootwright became impressed with how well the company managed Steve Cropper. At the turn of events, Primary Wave also saw a promising market that led them to expand in the Nashville area.

Expertise in talent management made Primary Wave tap one in the music industry’s veteran Ken Lane. He has been in the business for 25 years and has worked to various record labels such as Chrysalis Records, SBK/EMI Records Group, Arista and recently at Sirius/XM.

On the latest addition is Steven Greener who will supervise the music talent management division. He has started his career managing Will Smith together with Jeff Polack and Benny Medina. After launching Union Entertainment and developing “The Bernie Mac Show”, 3 Arts Entertainment acquired the company.

Aside from adding new people to their line of management, Primary Wave Entertainment has also added more catalogs to help songwriters with their careers. One of which is Brenda Russell who is a legendary songwriter. With her experience for over 30 years in the business, she has been nominated and gets to win prestigious awards. The agreement also included a song from her first album, “If Only for One Night” that was made popular by Luther Vandross.

The music rights of the Canadian Classical pianist and four-time Grammy award winner, Glenn Gould was also acquired by Primary Wave. CEO Lawrence Mestel further added that Gould’s innovative approach to music interpretation as well as openness to embrace technology made the acquisition of the catalog easier.

In the meantime, Primary Wave has also its feet in the upcoming hip-hop competition series together with Grammy award-winning singer John Legend. The series is titled Rhythm and Flow. It is also said that Rhythm and Flow will be the first onset of the talent discovery world like just like The Voice, American Idol, and The X Factor. Details have not yet been disclosed and no specific role other will John Legend play aside from being one of the producers.
