(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, December 16, 2013 ) Santa Monica, CA -- Overnight singing sensation, Susan Boyle, has revealed that she was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism, last year.
After receiving a different diagnosis as a child, Boyle sought out a Scottish specialist because she thought there was something more to the original diagnosis.
"I was told I had brain damage. I always knew it was an unfair label," she said. "Now I have a clearer understanding of whats wrong and I feel relieved and a bit more relaxed about myself."
Boyles Asperger's diagnosis has raised a great deal of attention to the developmental disorder, which the U.S. National Institutes of Health characterizes as a form of autism that is identified by poor social skills, physical clumsiness, and narrowly focused interests.
But, what if there was a way to reduce the effects associated with Asperger's syndrome?
This is the question posed by John W. Collins, Co-Founder and President of PacificCoast NutriLabs, a leading nutritional supplementation company based in Santa Monica.
"If we could improve the lives of children that are diagnosed with Aspergers at an early age by improving their language development and learning skills even to the slightest degree, I think that would be very significant." Collins stated.
Collins is referring to the results of a clinical trial that was compiled by two American researchers, Louise Patrick, SLP, and Ronald M. Salik, MD. The researchers conducted an open-label study, the Patrick-Salik trial, that involved children aged 3-10 years who had been diagnosed with autism or Asperger's syndrome by a pediatric neurologist or qualified pediatric specialist.
In the clinical trial, the researchers administered a fish oil supplement (http://www.amazon.com/Fish-Oil-Omega-3-Pharmaceutical-Supplements/dp/B00CDGJIAW), which provides essential fatty acids that are critical for brain health, to the group of 18 children that are diagnosed with autism or Asperger's syndrome for a period of 90 days.
Over the 90-day period the children were measured against 49 developmental items from the Assessment of Basis Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) to gauge eight primary areas of language and learning.
The results of the clinical trial confirmed that all of the children displayed significant increases in their language and learning skills based upon the ABLLS.
"This is very exciting news. And, its one of the primary reasons as to why weve worked very hard to provide a product that delivers a high potency of essential fatty acids in our PLATINUM Series Fish Oil Omega 3." Collins said.
Collins noted, "Although there was significant results achieved with the trial, its important to note that the purity of essential fatty acids of the supplement is key to achieving results."
To raise awareness for Asperger's syndrome and offer an easier path for those looking to start a fish oil regimen, PacificCoast NutriLabs is offering a 50% discount on their PLATINUM Series Fish Oil Omega 3 (http://www.amazon.com/Fish-Oil-Omega-3-Pharmaceutical-Supplements/dp/B00CDGJIAW) by using promo code OJM26ZFM at checkout.
