The Rhythm Surf Monkeys Fight Internet Bullying

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, March 06, 2014 )

Los Angeles, CA -- The Rhythm Surf Monkeys out of Eldersburg, Md., have a new endeavor that they are working on called Re-invented music project. It features a new song titled “Pen of Cowards,” which is an anti-cyber-bullying song.

Jim Hiltz, songwriter and guitarist for The Rhythm Surf Monkeys, said that the group would like to also make a video for the song and its very important message.

“Due to cyber-bullying, a high school classmate of mine lost her daughter, Grace McComas, to suicide in 2012,” said Hiltz. “I wrote the song, and I want to make the video because I believe it sends a message that needs to be heard.”

In addition to the song and video, Hiltz plans on hosting a seminar in cooperation with the Grace McComas Memorial. The goal is to raise awareness about the dangers of Internet bullying in schools around Eldersburg.

“We want to bring awareness to how dangerous this has not only become to our youth, but our entire society,” said Hiltz.

In addition, “Old Soldier,” one of the songs from the group’s new album, is dedicated to veterans. Hiltz said the band will perform it for veterans at Liberty High School’s Salute to Troops on May 2. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the school’s music program.

The Rhythm Surf Monkeys have launched a fundraising campaign on indiegogo.com to bring the band’s music and video to audiences. Individuals interested in supporting their music and vision are encouraged to visit the page and contribute. The campaign runs through April 4, 2014.

According to the fundraising page, contributors will receive gifts for their contribution, including signed autographs, CD credits, and invitations to the “Pen of Cowards” video debut.

In addition to “Pen of Cowards,” The band’s new album will feature “Where Were You When My Dad Became a Hero?” a song dedicated to dads and veterans.

The Rhythm Surf Monkeys are about more than the music. They want to give back as they have for many charities, including The Wounded Warrior Project, The Intrepid Fallen Hero Fund, and Healing Newtown.

“We want to help through the power of music,” said Hiltz. “We want our music to serve others. We’d be honored if you joined our team.”
