Fish oil was used to treat Randal McCloy, the sole survivor of a mine disaster in West Virginia. Less than three weeks after the mine disaster, McCloy was emerging from his coma. Another three months after that and he was already walking and speaking.
Another unfortunate incident, which involved a 17-year-old man in a car crash, was turned around by the same unorthodox fish oil treatment. Bobby Ghassemi was in critical condition after an ill-fated car accident. Using the experience they had with treating McCloy, Bobby's doctors managed to not only save his life, but it also helped him recover fast enough to attend his high school graduation three months later.
