New Scavolini film trilogy examines violence and cruelty

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, May 21, 2014 ) Los Angeles, CA -- Romano Scavolini’s extensive expertise in filmmaking has enabled him to make high-quality motion pictures for several decades. He is also the writer and director of the cult movie “Nightmare.” His latest project, The Apocalypse of the Monkeys, is no exception. It’s an ambitious trilogy of two-hour films that carefully examines the decline of spiritual and moral consciousness.

“This series enables the viewer to see the inexorable bond that exists between the different levels of violence in everyday life, but at the same time, it provides a profound and authentic look at salvation,” said Scavolini, 73, who lives in Rome.

“The narrative structure of the three films are spread over various levels, combining events of violence and death that overlap and are juxtaposed onto one another, like Chinese boxes.”

Fittingly, the first installment opens with these words from Karl Marx: “It's necessary to make the shame even more shameful and make it public for mankind to be frightened by his own image, so that we can infuse to him courage to overcome despair.”

The Apocalypse of the Monkeys has been in production for more than 10 years but, despite Scavolini’s skill at managing budgets, he has run into a bit of a financial snag. The first two volumes are nearly finished but about $50,000 is needed to complete the third film.

This money would go toward post-production, special effects, sound dubbing, voice-overs, audio editing and digital packaging.

To raise this additional capital, Scavolini has launched an Indiegogo campaign that can be viewed at the Indiegogo site. Movie fans who would like to support this project can make donations of any amount through the Indiegogo page, which also includes film trailers.

Those who contribute $25 or more are eligible for perks, such as photos autographed by Scavolini, movie posters and a thank-you in the film credits. Contributions of $500 or more receive DVDs of the trilogy.

“I think people who will contribute to finalize this film, will be proud of being part of such an extraordinary project” said Scavolini.” “The writing explores the issues of violence and cruelty in a way that really makes you think. The acting is first-rate, the music is stirring and special effects will bring you out of your seat.”
