(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, July 08, 2014 ) Los Angeles, CA -- Glucosamine for large dogs is a supplement engineered by veterinarians that is designed to provide relief not only for osteoarthritis in canines, but also for dogs who suffer from hip dysplasia & Arthritis. Complete with ingredients formulated specifically for joint pain ranging from mild to severe, dogs diagnosed with dysplastic hips are now given an opportunity for improvement in mobility and reduced pain. "Synovial – Hip & Joint Flex" is formulated with three core components - Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane).
Identified as key factors that benefit both human and animals suffering from joint pain, these three compounds are recognized for providing relief without worry of the common side effects resulting from prescription drugs. As chemical components that are manufactured naturally within the body, it has been discovered that each play an important role in the health of joint cartilage and its rejuvenation, reproduction and stability.
Hip dysplasia is considered an abnormal formation of the hips due to improper development. Designed as a ball and socket joint, the hip socket is shallow and femoral head cannot fit properly into place. The femoral head therefore sits loosely with excessive movement. It promotes arthritis (i.e. inflammation) and eventually the hips will no longer function properly.
Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine states "The perceived pain of hip dysplasia during its early stages is due to stretching of nerve endings and inflammation in the joint capsule and ligament. In its advanced stages the disease progresses to the painful condition of osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease." Symptoms include lameness, fatigue, difficulty walking, difficulty in getting up and down, or climbing stairs by "hopping." Known as a genetic disease, it is most commonly found in large breed dogs.
The Roles of Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM Glucosamine is often referred to as the building block of cartilage as it assists in cell reproduction. The International Journal of Rheumatology explores a study in the 2011 Volume that says glucosamine has a "stimulating effect on cartilage synthesis," and "several anti-inflammatory and antioxidant mechanisms." It follows with the statement that "This can delay cartilage degeneration in OA [osteoarthritis] which leads to a reduction in pain and swelling as well as to increased mobility of the affected joint."
Chondroitin is responsible for the water found in cartilage which affects the elasticity. Chondroitin is also thought to help fight other enzymes in the body that destroy the cartilage, and it is suggested to have anti-inflammatory effects, as well as assist in restoration of cartilage.
MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) has been used by veterinarians for years to reduce inflammation resulting from various problems in animals, and they have done so with great success. Sulfur based, its anti-inflammatory effects are noted as superior at reducing angry joint pain. In addition, the surrounding muscles that develop pain secondary to hip dysplasia can also reap the benefits. Dr. Rod Benjamin, the director of technical development for Bergstrom Nutrition, talks in his interview with Dr. Joseph Mercola, DO about the benefits of MSM stating, "In one of the studies, they were looking at the VAS pain scores. That's muscle soreness due to exercise. There was a significant reduction in the MSM-treated group versus placebo. That's directly tied to the muscle soreness." In addition, MSM is known for its antioxidant effects, stimulation of collagen, and it's soothing effects.
While each signifies a specific job of its own, the blend of the three compounds suggests a means of rebuilding, repairing and restructuring a joint that has been damaged or that has deteriorated. For dogs with hip dysplasia it is therefore possible to display positive results in hip stability and function while limiting pain.
Synovial provides the dosage of each compound listed above that is best suited for Dog arthritis, and includes Vitamin C to promote a strong immune system, as well as Manganese to break down fats.
It has been approved as a quality supplement by the National Animal Support Council (NASC). The NASC was established to uphold and promote high standards in health supplements for companion animals, making sure that the products follow ethical manufacturing and labeling.
