(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, August 03, 2014 ) Menlo Park, CA -- As couples begin their lives together, keeping bathroom spaces separate is becoming a rising trend among modern couples. Designers are always looking for simple solutions to accommodate the needs of their clients and busy and working couples have to balance both their personal space as well their significant other's. "Instead of having a single master bathroom with generic items in it for both individuals, many are now opting for two smaller spaces that meet their bathroom needs," said Joseph Pubillones, a Florida-based award-winning interior designer, in a post on The Daily Herald.
Citing differences in organizational habits and lengthy sessions in the bathroom, couples are often bound to deal with such issues when trying to share a common shower or bathroom. As a result, it is now becoming increasingly common for a husband and a wife to have "a single vanity designed with two bowls", or have "a break-in" created for the countertop surface – all to keep the peace.
"It's understandable why couples are opting for smaller, more personal bathroom spaces at home because their own personal organizational habit and busy schedules," said Emi Suzuki, Owner of Hooks & Rings. "It's surprising why this trend has taken this long to especially with today's work force."
Others are taking a step further with two separate bathrooms, according to Pubillones, emphasizing the benefits of each that outweigh a single, spectacularly luxurious bathroom suite. Building two smaller baths will mean buying two of just about everything, but the idea behind two separate facilities does solve a lot of problems, he noted.
In designing the bathrooms, the focus is on meeting the need of the user. Some may want colorful and simple, while other prefer no fuss and clean lines of a symmetrical and orderly design.
According to Suzuki, "For both spaces, the right accessories can make a lot of difference. Shower curtain rings, for one, need to be equally durable for both and complementary of the bathroom design as well." Suzuki's Roly Rings offer such solutions as one of the top-selling shower curtain rings on Amazon, providing both functionality and form.
