"It's a win win situation for the manufacturer because instead of throwing away all their neoprene off-cuts, they are now being used, and its definitely a winning situation for us," says Great Case CEO Kris Paul, because we get to use an incredible high quality neoprene that would otherwise have been thrown away, which in itself is contributing to saving the planet."

4 months ago Great Case company was checking out factories in China for neoprene, when they stumbled upon the wetsuit companies factory. " I cant say who it is as per our agreement, " says Kris, " but I can tell you they have been making wetsuits for nearly 100 years, and are recognized as one of the worlds best."

Making wetsuits involves a robot cutting up large amounts of neoprene to size, and since the amount needed for each iPhone 5 armband was relatively small, they are able to minimize the waste, right down to the last millimeter. The wetsuit company is also able to generate some revenue by selling their of cuts to Great Case, and Great Case considers themselves lucky to be getting such a high quality neoprene.

The Great Case has been selling on Amazon.com now for nearly 2 months, and sales have ben strong for a new start-up company. "We have a really cool design for our iPhone 5 armband, " says Tiffany Paul, head of design and research, "and we are so lucky to have sourced the worlds best quality neoprene, while at the same time, genuinely helping reduce manufacturing waste, and that really makes us feel good about what we are doing."
