After 2 months of designing and manufacturing their iPhone 5 armband for running, they still hadn't come up with a logo or any packaging. "We simply had a really high quality iPhone 5 armband case that we were totally happy with in terms of how it functioned but we needed the icing on the cake, look wise, " says Tiffany Paul, head of design and research for Great Case.

Husband and CEO, Kris Paul had heard about a company called 99 designs, which specializes in bringing top designers together to compete in a competition, with their clients giving feed back to the designers along the way, until finally they had eliminated the designs they didn't want and kept the designers and designs they did want, at which point they awarded the fee as a prize to the designer.

After the first 3 days, Great Case had 6 designers, and Kris critiqued them and also let them know the things he liked about everyones designs, by giving each design a rating out of 5 stars plus adding comments, to the designs which were coming in on almost an hourly basis. Although there were some copy cat designers, who just waited to see what designs were getting good comments and then copied them and submitted them as their own, there were also some extremely creative designers, who listened to the feed-back and eventually gave Great Case what they were looking for.

"Right from the start, there was one young Indonesian designer who had obviously read my brief well, and came out with stunning designs, and finally at the end, after more than 27 designers and 169 designs had been submitted, we were so happy to award the prize money to the young Indonesian,"says Kris," All in all we found the whole experience with 99 designs amazing, we are so happy with our logo and packaging."
