Didakay, based in Orange County California, is a manufacturer of armbands and other products related to the use of iPhones and Samsung Galaxy cell phones. Didakay, a new company, recently launched its new armband on Amazon, the world's largest online market place. The Didakay Company was founded by Douglas Hamp, who is an author and speaker on topics of the Bible. In speaking about his new company, he discusses the biblical model where everyone, including the rabbis and teachers of the day, had regular jobs. "Paul was a tent-maker," Hamp says in reference to the apostle Paul who wrote many of the New Testament books. "Paul was one of the greatest teachers of all time yet he still worked for a living and didn't expect to receive a salary from anyone." Hamp goes on to say that while it is not wrong for a pastor to receive a salary from a church, the biblical model is that everyone should have their trade and teaching would be something that they did after their other duties. Hamp states this in relation to his new company, "I love teaching the Bible and writing about it and I don't plan on stopping. However, making a living from ministry can sometimes create a conflict of interest. So, I have a started a ‘tent-making' business to support my family so that I can continue to write and teach freely about my favorite topic."

Hamp explains the choice of his company name Didakay. "It's Greek and means ‘teaching'. It seemed like a perfect fit since that is what I love to do and of course that is what Jesus, the greatest teacher of all time, did." Hamp says that he also thought it just plain sounded cool. "Who knows," Hamp goes on to say, "maybe it will be a household name someday like Adidas, Reebok, or Nike. It is pronounced ‘dee-da-kay like the letters ‘D' then dah and ‘K'."
