(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, October 07, 2014 ) Los Angeles, California -- Trained Sports CEO, Chris Moal, uncovers some ideas on agility training that are crucial for coaches, parents and health aficionados everywhere. A health buff himself, Moal has come up with some ideas that should make speed and agility training more effective.
First of all, Moal believes that prior to every training session, athletes should be given a dynamic warm-up.
Moal says, "If training coaches are careful in reducing the risk of injury in their athletes, a thorough warm-up is one thing to ensure."
He also added that distance running should be avoided as much as possible since it reduces athletes' explosiveness, which may affect their speed. If the athlete is trained for conditioning, one thing that a coach should do is to design exercises for the athlete's particular sport. There are also various ways to keep athletes' bodies fit without having to perform slow aerobic work, which could slow them down.
Trainers must focus on speed training if the athlete's body is well rested. Meaning, speed training must be performed at the beginning of a workout after a day of full rest or after an "easy" day.
Speed training for younger players must be done in a competitive and playful way. Players younger than nine years old must not be given formal drill work. Exercises must be quick and needing rapid changes in direction.
Moal also emphasizes on the significance of implementing correct mechanics on players. The mechanics of the drills should be related to the specific movements of the athlete's role in his sport. Training coaches should also look for ways to emphasize correct mechanics without making a player become robotic.
