(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, November 05, 2014 ) Los Angeles, California -- To get the most of agility training programs some myths should be settled first before training coaches design their agility workout training program for athletes according to Chris Moal, Trained Sports CEO. Moal says that these myths are common among training coaches and is crucial that these be straightened out.
For Moal, there are a number of training coaches who believe that stationary stretching is helpful in preparing their players for competition or practice. In truth, stationary stretching can reduce a player's power output and that the correct way to prepare a player before a competition or practice is to let them perform dynamic warm up exercises. These exercises should start from basic, low intensity movements that should build up into faster and more intense movements to let the muscles loosen up.
Moal explains, "This is important since it would simulate the movements that athletes would do in an actual game or practice."
A misconception that needs to be corrected is that slow training can make an athlete fast. Training coaches might not directly believe this but sometimes their training can show this misconception. This is especially applicable to sports that are very aerobic like soccer or field hockey. Allowing the players to run or move in slow intervals of nonstop running could get them in good shape but will never make them move fast.
Moal adds, "When coaches would like to improve their players' acceleration and speed then they should train them at full speed while practicing or doing their workout routine."
"This is also related to the next myth that says that players have to be trained hard every day. This is definitely incorrect since any athlete would need a recovery time," Moal continues.
Recovery is typically 36 to 48 hours following a highly intense training. Athletes who are overworked can become over trained. When coaches notice that their athletes are always complaining of soreness and experiencing fatigue more often, they could be over trained.
