Los Angles Press Releases

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, December 10, 2014 ) Sunland, California -- Some people just aren't good at taking advice.
Take self-publishing. "Everyone knows" that self-publishing is all about ebooks. "Everyone knows" it's best for self-publishers to stick to Kindle and forget about print. "Everyone knows" print will be a tiny minority of your sales, if you sell any at all, and print books simply aren't worth the time investment.
But Garrett Robinson has made his new fantasy series available in print from Day 1, and plans to keep doing so in the future. Nightblade, the first book in the Nightblade volumes, has already sold many copies in paperback. According to the author, the numbers may not be comparable to his ebook sales, but the connection with his readers is worth it.
"Some people just like reading paperbacks, and want to hold this book in their hands," he said in a YouTube video announcing the series. "I want to give them that feeling."
"Of course, there's another reason print books can be good marketing. Ebooks are convenient, but they also have a brown paper bag effect—people around the reader can't see the book cover. That's great when a reader is trying to conceal their Fifty Shades of Grey fetish, but not as good for the author."
"I want people to see a friend reading my book. If I've done my job with the cover, they get curious," says Robinson. "Word of mouth is everything, and print helps you more than ebooks."
With the Christmas season coming up, print books are more important to Garrett Robinson than ever.
"When it comes to the holidays, ebooks run into the same problem as gift cards. They're simply too impersonal. Who would give a family member an ebook copy of a favorite novel, when they can wrap a physical copy and stick it under the tree instead?"
Already a bestseller in fantasy with his Realm Keepers series, co-penned with fellow indie author Z.C. Bolger, Robinson is excited to see his fans' response to the Nightblade books. With a regular, weekly release schedule and a more adult, dark take on fantasy, he hopes to keep finding new fans with whom to share his world.
