Los Angles Press Releases

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, December 11, 2014 ) Sunland, California -- Reviewing video games might seem like an odd strategy for an independent author to find success, but Garrett Robinson is giving it a shot.
A successful independent author and YouTube personality, Robinson has recently launched a new video game YouTube channel with regular video game programming. Along with a streaming channel on Twitch, he is slowly building up a library of content aimed at fellow video game enthusiasts. Dubbing the channel Garrett's Games, he has posted over 25 hours of video in just under a week.
In a video published to his original YouTube channel, Robinson promised to provide gameplay footage every day, as well as regular reviews of games he completes to advise his viewers what games to buy and what to skip. So far his published reviews have been similar to the WTF video series by YouTuber John Bain (aka Totalbiscuit), who Robinson lists as an inspiration. His streaming Let's Play footage has been compared to Jim Sterling's live Twitch streams, another channel Robinson claims to frequent.
With this channel, Robinson hopes to build a deeper connection with readers of his books as well as discover new readers. A lifetime enthusiast of fantasy and science fiction and an avid gamer, Robinson stated in a video that "This is one more place where my audience and I can spend time together."
"I'm already playing video games," he continued. "It doesn't take much to record the footage and post it online." This joins Robinson's fantasy and sci-fi novels, his blog, his regular YouTube channel and his two weekly audio podcasts in his schedule of regular content creation.
Robinson is not alone in making a play for the attention of online gamers. Other large online personalities have recently begun YouTube gaming channels and Twitch.tv streaming channels, with Charlie Schneider from Emergency Awesome and Hank Green from the vlogbrothers both recently starting accounts. Meanwhile, existing online gamers such as Felicia Day and Stephen Williams (aka Boogie2988) have had channels in place for years as their main source of income.
