Los Angles Press Releases

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, December 11, 2014 ) Sunland, California -- When the average reader thinks of self-publishing, they might think of many things. Probably they think of books littered with terrible spelling and grammar, with little to no editing or proofreading, and probably terrible covers. Of course, that might have been the case in the past, but self-publishers have come a long way, and indie titles now rival traditional publishing quality.
But there's one thing most people still think of when they think indie authors, and that's ebooks. For the most part, a reader would be right to think this. Ebooks are the bread and butter of any self-published author, selling many more copies than paperback or hardcover books for all but the most well-established independent authors.
Successful self-published author Garrett Robinson, however, doesn't think authors should be so quick to discount print books, and throughout his career he's put his money where his mouth is. His very first novel, Touch: Trilogy, went to print just weeks after he released the ebook, and it's been the same for every book since. This year he released his first hardcover, the novel Rebel Yell.
"Print books form a much stronger bond with your reader," said Robinson on his Story Telling Podcast this November. "And there's no reason NOT to offer them. Createspace and Ingramspark print books are extremely high quality, and if you design them right, can look as good or better than almost anything the traditional publishers put out."
While Robinson admits that print sales don't match his ebook sales, and in fact he earns less profit from a paperback than an ebook, he'd still rather sell a print copy any day. So in anticipation of this holiday season, he's stepped up his print game. Readers of Robinson's works can now buy signed books from him online.
"Holiday shopping can be a nightmare, but readers are easy to buy for," says Robinson. "I wanted to give my audience an easy way to get a gift they know their friends and family will love—hopefully."
Robinson offers all books through his own site, and has also put together a package of all his print titles for a 20% discount. Within hours of posting the deal, he began reporting his first sales.
"Most people just want one or two books, but some people have purchased the full set," said Robinson. "That's honestly very gratifying, knowing that someone would want that. Whether they're gifting all the books or keeping them, it's nice to know some people would still rather read on paper than a tablet screen."
