(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, December 12, 2014 ) Los Angeles, California -- Resistance bands have become popular nowadays as the sports equipment is commonly found in fitness centers. This sports equipment is cheap, effective and simple to use. Resistance bands however, can pose danger, just like other fitness equipment when not used properly. Trained Sports CEO, Chris Moal shares some tips on how to use resistance bands safely.

"The major dangers of using resistance bands include letting one end go while under tension and breaking of the band. Both of these instances can make the other end of the band snap violently towards the user and may inflict serious damage," Moal reveals.

Just like other things, resistance bands can break down with time due to wear and tear because of regular usage. According to Moal, it is therefore important to check bands frequently in order to make sure that they are in safe condition.

"One of the main reasons of injuries arising from the use of resistance bands is improper use. For fitness facilities manager, ensure that the safety rules of use are posted and make sure that users follow them," Moal adds.

Moal also mentioned not to ever release a resistance band while under tension. Releasing band that is under tension can make the band snap back towards the person using it and may result to significant harm. Moal also added to start the exercises slowly in order to test band strength. Jerking the band while in use is also another thing to avoid.

"Before using resistance bands, see to it that you have inspected them for nicks, cuts, scratches, punctures, cracks or discoloration, which might indicate that the band has weakened in a certain area. If you discover any flaws on the band, immediately discard it. Never even think of trying to repair a damaged band," Moal continues.
