Unfortunately, making their daily lives more active is a problem, too. Chris Moal, CEO of Trained Sports, reveals some helpful tips in making a sedentary lifestyle more active. Moal suggests making physical activities more social by walking with family, spouse or friend at any convenient time of the day. Signing up for a fitness class at a nearby gym or fitness center is also a good idea since these programs can help monitor progress.

Moal says, "It is highly important to minimize sitting time. When things get busy, try combining a cardio workout with a sitting activity such as doing workout while watching television or reading."

Maintaining an exercise log is also something worthwhile doing. This lets an individual record the amount of activity performed each day.

Little things such as biking or walking for errands around the community or for trips that are not more than a mile or two can also help get a person moving for more physical activity.

"Planning exercise into your daily routine can also minimize instances where you will forget doing any exercise. This is really helpful for those who are looking to lose weight or those who want to improve flexibility. Set aside a certain schedule for you to do your exercises and record it in your planner," Moal adds.

Moal also encourages giving rewards for achieving goals. Setting short-term goals and giving specific rewards when they are reached will help keep the motivation. However, rewards should also be fitness related such as new running shoes or a new sports gear.
