Baking Healthy With Mr. Muffin Representative

Levy also says that meringue can also be used as piecrust, cutting 40 calories from regular recipes. She recommends using this substitution for lemon curd or chocolate mousse.

"To make meringue crust, beat three egg whites along with ¼ teaspoon of cream of tartar until foamy. Slowly beat in ¾ cup of sugar until the egg whites are stiff and glossy and add a teaspoon of vanilla. Spread the mixture in a greased pie dish and bake at 225° for an hour or until done," Levy continues.
