(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, February 09, 2015 ) Los Angeles, California -- For those lacking in physical activity and are not currently into any exercise program, an increase in any physical activity would be great according to Chris Moal, CEO of Trained Sports.
"In order to prevent diseases or to reduce your chances of having diabetes, heart attack or stroke, try doing aerobic activities. These are activities that trigger an obvious increase in your heart rate. Research show that brisk walking even for 15 to 20 minutes a day can be beneficial," Moal says.
But how much activity is recommended for healthy adults? Moal says that the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans suggests doing two and a half hours of moderate intensity aerobic activity every week. "You can also perform at least 1.25 hours of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity each week. To reduce your risk of injury, it is a good idea to divide your activity into several days a week," Moal says.
Moal also suggests combining moderate and vigorous exercises over the week by performing moderate intensity exercises for two days and doing vigorous intensity activity in the next two days. Moal says it is alright to divide activities into smaller ones as long as the activity is sustained for at least ten minutes. Healthy adults should also perform muscle-strengthening exercises at least twice a week while children are recommended at least an hour a day of physical activity.
