(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, February 12, 2015 ) Los Angeles, California -- Trained Sports CEO, Chris Moal, is certainly committed to sharing useful information related to health and fitness. Being a sports equipment distributor, they aim to provide educational information that could change their lives in general. Moal shares the advantages of physical activity for the lungs.

The amount of air a person needs to breathe is dependent on how active he is, says Moal. "When a person is sitting down, he only takes in around 15 breaths per minute. But when exercising, heart rate and breathing increases. An elite athlete is expected to increase his breathing to about 40-60 breaths per minute."

The lungs should be able to respond to the body's need for oxygen demands. When a person starts moving, the muscles send messages to the brain saying that the body needs more oxygen. The brain sends signals to the diaphragm and the muscles between the ribs so that they contract and relax more frequently, allowing a person to take more breaths, Moal says.

"Your lungs will absorb more oxygen and will carry more oxygen to your muscles used during the exercise," Moal adds.

Moal explained that in order to increase physical activity, the muscles have to produce more energy. The muscles do this through breaking down glucose from food and for them to do this, oxygen should be present. When there is not enough oxygen, the muscles try to produce energy differently, which leads to a build-up of chemical known as lactic acid, which triggers cramps.

"Athletes train in order for their lungs to be more efficient so that it would take longer for lactic acid to be formed, meaning that their muscles can withstand more physical activity. The good news is that not only athletes can benefit from exercise in trying to strengthen their muscles and lungs," Moal continues.

But people with lung problems are scared to exercise because they are worried that breathlessness will be harmful to them. Moal shares that by slowly building up physical activity, one can help improve breathing and feel better.

"Those with acute lung problems can benefit a lot from small amounts of exercise and it is really worth to maintain physical activity as much as possible," Moal concludes.
