(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, March 04, 2015 ) Los Angeles, California -- Resistance bands are becoming more popular today as evidenced by their availability in most fitness centers. This sports tool is affordable, effective and simple enough to use. However, just like all other tools, they can pose danger when not used properly. Chris Moal of Trained Sports reveals some safety tips in using resistance bands.

Moal says that the main danger of using resistance bands is letting an end go while the other end is under tension while another one is when the band breaks under tension. These circumstances can make the other end of the band hit violently towards the user and may cause serious damage.

Like other materials, resistance bands can naturally wear down with time. For this, Moal suggests checking the bands regularly to ensure the condition and safety of the bands.

Among the reasons of injuries related to the use of these elastic bands is improper use. Moal says, "Fitness facilities managers should make sure that safety rules of use are situation at various parts of the center and they should also ensure that users are following them."

Moal also warned about releasing a resistance band when under tension. Releasing the band when under tension will have the band snap back quickly towards the user and might hit the eyes or other parts of the body. Moal also recommends starting resistance band exercises slowly to allow a person to test the band strength. Also, avoid jerking the band when in use.

"Prior to using the bands, inspect them for cuts, nicks, scratches, cracks, punctures or discoloration, which could indicate that the bands have become weak in specific parts. If there seem to be any flaws on the band, do not hesitate on using it. Do not even consider repairing a damaged band," Moal says.

Trained Sports Resistance Bands are exclusively available on Amazon.
