Los Angles Press Releases

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, March 16, 2015 ) Los Angeles, California -- Resistance bands have become part of most fitness gyms but not all people are well informed about these portable equipment tools. Chris Moal of Trained Sports discusses the top myths on resistance bands and what's the truth behind them.
First of all, though most people would think that there is very little evidence on resistance bands, it's not true. Moal says that there are more than a hundred published clinical trials that used resistance bands. Also, there are more than 60 basic and applied studies that talk about the scientific foundation of resistance bands including biomechanical analysis and electromyographic evidence. Most of these researches are published and can be viewed online.
Moal also says that people tend to think that machine-based resistance is safer and more effective than resistance bands. Again, this is not true. "The rates and injuries reported using resistance bands are as few or even fewer than using machine-based resistance. Scientific studies reveal that resistance provided by resistance bands is greatly similar to machine-based resistance in terms of physiological response, patterns of muscle activation and strength outcomes," Moal explains.
Another myth related to resistance band is that resistance of bands improves with range of motion, making it more difficult to complete an exercise, which is totally incorrect. Moal explains that although the resistance of bands improves with range of motion when the band is stretched, the torque that is generated at the joint is "bell-shaped", which means that at the start and end, the strength curve profile contain the strength curve profile of human strength curves. The torque changes results from changing the angle between the lever arm and the band, also known as "force angle". While the range of motion increases, the force angle decreases, which changes torque production.
Trained Sports Resistance Bands is available on Amazon and comes with free exercises that can be performed with the bands.
