"The pin-up is such an iconic symbol in the military," said founder, Gina Elise. She is the granddaughter of a WWII veteran and when she started hearing stories of the many injured and sick veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who were not getting the healthcare and general care they needed due to underfunding, she decided to do something about it.

She said she has "always loved the romance of those bygone eras - especially the 1940's - and I drew inspiration from the World War II pin-up girls, whose photos and paintings boosted morale for our soldiers fighting overseas." Since 2007, Pin-Ups for Vets has produced yearly calendars that were used to raise funds for hospitalized vets. Calendars were given as gifts to hospitalized vets and were also sent to deployed troops. They recently held the Blonde Bombshells – a Tribute to Screen Sirens fundraiser. As a result of this and others annual events and the sales of calendars, they have been able to donate over $50,000 in therapy equipment to VA Hospitals nationwide.
