Shane's Inspiration Gala Featured A Backdrop By Step And Repeat LA

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, April 13, 2015 ) Shadow Hills, CA -- Eat, Play, Love was the theme for this year's 15th annual Shane's Inspiration gala held in the Blossom Ballroom of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. This annual event has been attended by many well-known celebrities such as Halle Berry, Joe Montegna, Dakota Fanning and Michael Chiklis. This year's gala honorees received crystal platters donated by Tiffany and Co.

Shane’s Inspiration is a charity organization dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to fun, regardless of their abilities. Many children with special needs didn't have the opportunity to play independently in playgrounds with other children, as most playgrounds and their equipment were inaccessible to children with disabilities. That has since changed, with playgrounds now being built with access for all, regardless of abilities.

According to the LA Parks website, Shane's Inspiration opened on September 21, 2000 in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, "in memory of Shane Williams who died of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It is the first West Coast Universally Accessible Playground created by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks in conjunction with the Boundless Playground Resource Center West."

Since then, Shane's Inspiration has built 56 playgrounds so far, designed to be "independently playable" for children of all abilities. The playgrounds feature structures that are sensory-rich for children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and autism, that are also enjoyed by children of all ages and abilities.

The backdrop for this year's gala was created by Step and Repeat LA. As a family-based business, they recognize the need for inclusion of all children, regardless of needs and abilities, and were happy to be a part of this year's gala.
