CuddlesÂ’ Customer Asks, How To Console Baby Through Teething

Cuddles suggested Rebecca should give her baby something cool to chew on, such as a chilled teething ring or a whole, peeled carrot that's been in the fridge, but to keep a watchful eye on the baby whilst it's chewing.

Rebecca was also informed, If the baby is older than four months, Rebecca could rub sugar-free teething gel for babies on the gum, and she could obtain this from most pharmacies

If the baby is older than six months, the baby may get relief from eating cold foods, such as apple puree or yoghurt, cold out of the fridge. It's not good to give the baby teething biscuits or rusks because they consist of sugar, which could damage their teeth.

If the baby is really in distress, Rebecca was informed that a correct dose of sugar-free infant paracetamol or ibuprofen could be given to the baby, as long as the baby is three months or older. And to always follow the correct dosage instructions on the packet.

Teething can make the baby dribble a lot. Rebecca was advised to protect the baby's chin from soreness by smoothing some petroleum jelly on to the chin. Some parents swear by homeopathic teething powders, which can be bought from most pharmacies. Nevertheless, there isn't any medical evidence to suggest they work.
