Resistance Bands As Useful As Weight Machines

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, May 02, 2015 ) Los Angeles, California -- Expensive weight machines are really effective at improving muscle strength and muscle mass but Trained Sports CEO, Chris Moal, claims that resistance bands could do the same.

Moal says, "Studies have shown that resistance band training can provide similar results to weight machines when it comes to strength gain. Resistance band training can also help get rid of the limitations of gravity and makes you isolate the muscles and perform similar movements in a different manner."

Moal also says that a book on the advances of resistance band training entitled Strength Band Training, states that using a single resistance band can help strengthen all the major muscle groups by ding different exercises. Resistance bands can also be used in strengthening certain muscles that cannot be used when using muscle-specific machines.

Moal adds, "Fitness professionals claim that performing exercise programs using resistance bands for a minimum of 6 weeks can help increase strength by 10 – 30 percent in both young and older adults. The same program also helps with increasing power, endurance and muscle mass while lowering body fat."

Resistance bands can also offer stabilization training by concentrating on core muscles when performing whole-body exercises. Moal explains, "The bands can help work out various joints and planes when done in standing position. As a result, it brings more training to the core muscles as compared to machine-based exercises. When using resistance bands, it is also difficult to cheat because it cannot be used to yank a weight into its position."

Resistance bands are also convenient and affordable so they provide a flexible workout unlike weight machines. Moal says that changing the level of resistance, number of repetitions and speed of the exercise can help design an exercise program that can help tone the body, lose weight and improve overall strength and conditioning. Exercise programs with the help of resistance bands are also helpful in improving speed, agility and power.
