Chris Moal, CEO of Trained Sports, a sports tool distributor, shares some tips on how to eliminate a sedentary lifestyle and switch into a physically active one. Moal suggests making physical activities more social for them to be more enjoyable. "You can walk with a friend, your spouse or the whole family to make the activity more fun and less tedious. If a person wants to stay active, Moal says that it would be helpful to minimize sitting time. This is when a person does things in a passive manner such as watching TV or reading. "You can also combine a sitting activity with a cardio workout if there really is a need to do the passive activity. One such way is to walk on the treadmill while watching TV," Moal says.

Maintaining an exercise journal is crucial in allowing an individual to monitor the amount of physical activity done each day. Physical activities like biking, jogging or walking when doing errands should also be recorded. Moal adds, "Planning physical activities each day can lessen the likelihood that you will forget to exercise regularly. This is critical for those who would like to improve on their flexibility or for those trying to lose weight. Your planner should state the time and length of the physical activities that you plan to perform," Moal adds.

Finally, Moal adds that providing rewards for goals met can add to motivating a person to push himself. Moal suggests setting short-term goals and setting specific fitness-related rewards such as health and new fitness gadgets or new sports equipment.
