Los Angles Press Releases

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, June 04, 2015 ) Los Angeles, CA -- New clothing brand, "Charlie a Go-Go" has launched its first range of tops and tunics. Primarily designed for women over 40 who wear sizes 12 to 18, the label aims to help their customers feel funky, fabulous and cared for. Charlie a Go-Go is the American/Australian collaboration of ‘West Coast girl' Lisa Charles, and ‘Down Under chick', Quita Leslie. The first release from Charlie a Go-Go comprises four gorgeous basics which come in three great workable colors, and four generous sizes.
Charlie a Go-Go is proudly made in Downtown Los Angeles from beautiful soft and wearable American-made fabric. In their search for factories to manufacture their line, founders Lisa and Quita, traveled to Indonesia and China, and even considered Fiji as a possible production base. Their year-long search for an ethical manufacturer lead them back to Lisa's hometown, where quality and ‘heart' came together. "We wanted our garments to be made somewhere that cares for its workers", said Lisa, "and we wanted to give our ladies quality garments that don't fall apart after three washes."
With a vibe reminiscent of the sixties and seventies, Charlie a Go-Go wants women to dump the frump and get their groove back. "Our customers are ladies who were a force to be reckoned with back in the day. They remember what quality clothing was like. They ‘invented' cut off jeans, tie-dye and disco glam", said Quita. "They were discovering their love of fashion at that time, and now they want it back in great clothes that are made in their size, and shaped for bodies that have lived life!"
This is the key element of the Charlie a Go-Go label. The brand came about by the recognition that the clothing needs of ladies of a certain age, size and shape were largely being ignored by most mainstream designers and manufacturers. "Quita and I are both on the other side of 45, and I've personally struggled with finding clothes to wear shopping, to the movies and out to lunch", said Lisa. "At the end of the day, sometimes you have to just jump in feet first and solve a problem yourself. I'm not sure how many clothing manufacturers have had the experience of going into a teary-rage because they couldn't find clothes that fit, but I have." " Incidentally, we don't call ourselves 'fashion designers', said Quita. "Lisa and I are simply clothing manufacturers working hard to bring tops to women over 40 that make them feel amazing. Some people call our ladies, ‘plus-size', but our customers simply have boobs, butts and tummies and we love them for it."
The brand has taken some time to come to the market, but despite the many challenges faced as an independent fashion label, Lisa and Quita kept forging ahead because they believed that their customers deserved respect and choice. "We didn't quit when our first factory screwed up our samples beyond recognition", said Lisa. "We didn't quit when our second factory defrauded us. We nipped the third factory in the bud when things started to look 'off'. We were then left 'factory-less' and sitting in a car in downtown Los Angeles, thousands of miles from home, with just each other, our patterns, and the words we live by daily – "we don't quit and our ladies need us." Regrouping and scouring their business card card folder, Lisa and Quita and made some phone calls from that car and the Charlie a Go-Go team soon found a new factory, got things back on track and are now ‘open for business'.
Selling exclusively on Amazon.com, Charlie a Go-Go's initial range will be extended to include new colors, prints and designs over the coming months. "We're not afraid of color and will be having a lot of fun with it along with some interesting new styles", said Quita. "Our ladies will be putting even more groove in their move for sure, and we can't wait to share that with them."
