First of all, Merika shares that most people consider that their skin can't breathe whenever they place a lot of products on it. So I would suggest choosing cleansing products that are water-soluble," Merika adds.

Merika then explains that another common misconception when it comes to skin care is toning. She says that most people think that toners are used in order to clean what is left from the first step of cleansing, which is not correct. "Toners work by preparing the skin for moisturizing. It replaces the skin's usually acidic pH and since they are made mostly of water, they also serve to hydrate the outer skin," Merika adds.
