The True Story Behind Weather PermittingÂ’s Moisture Wicking T-shirt In Time For FatherÂ’s Day

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, June 16, 2015 ) Los Angeles, CA -- A quick dry shirt that's comfortable, wicks the way it's supposed to and is durable seems to be a topic of interest to active men that want the right shirt to wear during strenuous activity, especially now that summer has arrived.

In an interview with CEO, Robbie Robinson, he reveals the story behind why his company, Weather Permitting chose a particular quick dry shirt for those very reasons – comfort, performance and durability.

Robbie said it was amazing to him that he would buy sports shirts for outdoor activities and get something that is hardly worth the money and then complain about it.

He said it's the old adage, "You get what you pay for." He had given up on pure cotton because, while it was comfortable, it became a soggy mess with sweat. "In moments where I think I left my brain at home I've bought those 3 for $10 cotton shirts. Throw them in the wash one time and they become handkerchiefs. They rip, stain, and when soaked, are chilly and uncomfortable."

Mr. Robinson said that he looked around for the more expensive performance shirts that claim to wick moisture away from the body and stay dry. Most of the shirts he bought were 25 – 50% more expensive than pure cotton and most of them were 100% polyester. But he said that the downside, is that polyester feels like he's wearing plastic (which he actually is!) and found the material to be slick against his skin. He had to be careful in washing this type of shirt because they don't hold their shape and they can shrink, not as bad as cheap cotton, but they can lose their shape easily. "I'm an outdoor guy, but definitely not the guy who wears tight-fitting, day-glo bright shirts. My physique wouldn't take it! So polyester was out," he said.

There were some blends of cotton and polyester he tried, but he found that those don't hold their shape and get baggy or shrink and become too tight. "For the quality, I always felt I was paying too much. I understand the reason for the higher price because the shirts are supposed to be specialized and of higher fabric quality. Ya, well not so much."

He said the staff at Weather Permitting did a lot of research and they found a moisture wicking t-shirt that they were very excited about. They realized that it was higher priced than a typical cotton t-shirt, but it had 70% cotton and 30% microfiber so the higher price made sense. It also had a 3-5 second moisture transport rate - industry standard for these shirts is 15-30 seconds. They felt it would be worth the extra cost.

Mr. Robinson said he tried the shirt himself for weeks, washing it, wearing, and washing it again. He reports that he stayed dry and comfortable in active situations. It fit after repeated washings, and held its color and shape. "It seemed we had a winner!" he said.

The real test would be how their customers liked the shirt. The company only just recently launched the shirt on Amazon and the customer reviews coming in are positive. "It's everything we had hoped to provide our customers."

Weather Permitting's Moisture Wicking T-shirts are on sale now through Father's Day at 40% off on Amazon.
