Mia Cosmetics Deals With Common Skin Care Myths

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, June 22, 2015 ) Beverly Hills, California -- With today's market filled with anti-aging and skin care products, it is difficult to learn what's true from what's just hype. Mia Cosmetics representative, Sam Merika, shares the truth behind some of these common myths. Here, she talks about common myths on sun protection factor and tanning. Mia Cosmetics distributes skin care products for both young and mature men and women.

Merika says that it is a common belief that tanning booths are safe because they filter UVB rays. Everyone knows that the sun's rays can be damaging as they can lead to premature aging and skin cancer. But because tanning booth companies claim that the booths do not contain UVB, people assume that the booths are safe enough, Merika says. "The truth is that when you tan yourself with a tanning booth, your skin is still exposed to UVA rays, which can penetrate deep into the skin and still cause harm such as skin cancers and premature aging."

Most people also believe that if a product comes with a high SPF or sun protection factor, it also comes with better protection that low SPF products. "There are actually three different kinds of UV rays including UVA, UVB and UVC. UVC rays are the most damaging of all but fortunately, they do not make it into the ground since they are absorbed by our atmosphere. UVB are known as sunburn rays, which can damage the skin's DNA, pigment changes and photoaging and UVA penetrate the skin deep, changing pigmentation to give you a tan," Merika says.

SPF on skin products give the amount of protection it offers from sunburn or UVB rays, Merika says. A lot of skin products have to offer protection against UVA and UVB rays, which they advertise as broad spectrum. Merika recommends getting a product with at least SPF 15. She also says to look for one of these ingredients to ensure UVA protection: titanium dioxide, mexoryl and avobenzone or oxybenzone.

One of Mia Cosmetics' products include their Collagen Serum with Hyaluronic Acid.
