Irvine, CA – While nobody will deny the booming popularity of post-apocalyptic fiction, both readers and critics are currently crying out for wholly-unique new narratives that don't succumb to recycling of the 'same-old' concepts. Thankfully, Saad O. Karkar is stepping up to the plate with gusto, twisting reality into a fantasy adventure steeped pop-culture and end-of-the-world greatness.
'Quentin' is the intense and powerful first volume of the 'Brave Exile' series – a new teen fantasy franchise that proves being a geek is cool. In fact, it provides adventures outside the realms of anyone's imagination, except the author's.
Synopsis:
When a strange young man, dressed in a long cloak, sprints into the village of Deny in the land of Quentin, all of the townspeople take notice. They are especially intrigued when the stranger asks to fight Berry the Bandit Crusher, the village's toughest, meanest, and strongest man. little did anyone know, the stranger is no ordinary man, and he is about to set off an epic chain of events that will change history forever.
The stranger's name is Saru and he's on a quest to find his life's true purpose. Throughout his journey in the land of Quentin, Saru collects a band of societal rejects to form a force to be reckoned with. They may leave destruction in their wake, but they use their strengths to fend off the injustice and help those in need.
A fantasy book for teens, Brave Exiles follows Saru and his band of misfits as they seek adventure in a post-apocalyptic universe full of mighty beasts and fascinating creatures, a world where nothing is impossible.
"There's no place in the world of fiction like the 'Exileverse' I created," explains Karkar. "Readers can explore it in an adventure that has the quirkiness of indie-comic book characters, the action-packed adventure style of anime, and the continues hidden easter eggs (in reference to video-game pop culture). If you're a millennial – each page will bring new references that twist up the reality of the world you have come to know."
Continuing, "The book switches from edge-of-the-seat suspense to hilarious dialogue unlike anything else on the market, its the book I always wanted to read but couldn't find, so I decided to make it"
Readers agree, leaving positive reviews. For example, Sid Oakes adds, "This book was fantastic! The author has a very unique style of writing, sometimes it feels like an anime, then it takes a turn and feels like an RPG video game, then switches back to being edgy, modern and absolutely hilarious. I love the characters in the book, especially Vlam, he is like the only self-conscious character in the book.... you can say the voice of reason in a constant chaotic mayhem that they call Saru's Party. I cannot wait for book 2!!"
About the Author:
Saad O. Karkar had an unusual beginning, being diagnosed on the spectrum. He didn't speak a word until he was six years old, and then it was to give full recitals of his favorite TV shows and movies! His journey as a creative mind began from there. He can literally replay in his mind, bit by bit, anything he has ever watched; he has an incredible video-graphic memory. By the time he turned fifteen he was inventing entire universes packed with all sorts of planetary systems, diverse life forms, cultures, traditions and languages. Each character he develops lives, breathes and interacts with other characters in his mind endlessly until each of them develops a complex and intriguing personality. If we were to summarize Saad in one phrase it would be "imagination powerhouse".
