(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, August 31, 2015 ) Los Angeles, California -- Most workout programs for elite athletes include speed and agility training. Various sports such as basketball, boxing, soccer and hockey can take advantage of the agility and speed improvements of their players. There are different sports tools that can be used for speed and agility training such as training cones and agility ladders. Unexpectedly, Trained Sports CEO, Chris Moal announces that resistance bands can also help boost speed and agility.
Speed and agility training is an integral part of any athletic performance program. Track athletes, football and basketball players, racket sport competitors, soccer stars, any athlete can benefit from getting quicker and more mobile. Moal said "Straight sprints and using agility tools such as the ladder or cones can certainly improve your speed and agility, but for a real boost to your training, start incorporating resistance bands."
"You can make your legs more powerful by creating vertical or broad jumps, which also means that you will gain improvements in your acceleration. Squat jumps, board jumps and box jumps are regular movements but when you add bands into them, it will take your level of training even higher," Moal says.
He adds that sprints are also proven methods of increasing speed but band sprints are usually taken for granted. This kind of sprint is helpful for increasing speed if there is limited space and will most likely require two or three bands depending on the person's strength.
The ability to move sideways quickly is a major skill that is essential in most sports. In order for an athlete to do this, he has to have sufficient strength on his legs and be able to start and quickly stop safely. Moal says that resistance bands can be added into lateral hops and side steps.
